Western Port Seagrass Study
This project examined the interdependence between sediment transport processes and seagrass health, that could enhance seagrass sustainability.

The study site is an internationally significant ecosystem and the preferred site for a major port development. This project examined the interdependence between sediment transport processes and seagrass health, to optimally locate and employ methods that could enhance seagrass sustainability. As part of this, eCoast was commissioned to model key physical factors that influence seagrass sustainability by assessing currents, waves, turbidity and settlement (modelled past and present), with habitat, bathymetry and sediment surveys, to determine optimal locations for seagrass growth in Western Port.
