Optimisation of Mechanical Reservoir Circulation
The optimum location for the mechanical circulation, to work in concert with natural circulation, device was determined.
Stratification of Auckland’s drinking water supply often leads to low dissolved oxygen levels. These issues are currently addressed using mechanical circulation devices. The project utilised existing data and numerical models to consider circulation of the reservoir during different metrological conditions. Natural circulation pattern was combined with mechanical circulation, with the device located at different locations. The optimum location for the mechanical circulation, to work in concert with natural circulation, device was determined.
