Denis Island Coastal Processes Assessment
In early 2015, the north-western sand spit of Denis Island drastically eroded.

Denis Island in the Republic of Seychelles (RoS), is located in the Western Indian Ocean on the Seychelles Bank, part of the Mascarene Plateau. On the north-western side of the island, the main complex of the Denis Private Island infrastructure lies adjacent to a sand spit.
In early 2015, the north-western sand spit of Denis Island drastically eroded. This erosion compromised vital hotel infrastructure and resulted in closure of the swimming pool. In response to these events, eCoast was requested to provide management advise regarding coastal erosion.
This project describes the findings of a preliminary coastal processes study of Denis Island. The aim of the study is to understand the existing coastal processes so that any management decisions and/or intervention is applied within the existing system - a holistic approach.
