PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
As part of ongoing work to understand the estuarine and coastal environment of Whangamata, eCoast were asked to develop a data collection programme for use in developing a calibrated numerical model.
Four instruments, collecting wave, current and sea level data, were deployed for one month by eCoast’s dive team. The instrument locations ranged from inside the estuary to approximate 2 km offshore. Post deployment and prior to instrument retrieval bathymetry surveys of the estuary and open coast were conducted using eCoast jet ski – Red Rocket. The jet ski was mounted with RTK-GPS, with a through-hull transducer.
