This coastal process study is the first stage of a programme to develop a whole bay, holistic, management plan at Buffalo Bay, Whitianga, New Zealand.

The coastal process study is the first stage of a programme to develop a whole bay, holistic, management plan that will be used to adaptively manage the area through the challenges of sea level rise and other coastal hazards and developments over the next 100 years and into the future. The modelling process utilized multiple nested grids, firstly to schematise a nearshore wave climate and also to introduce an ebb tidal jet in to the morphological model domain. The shoreline responses to nearshore structures that have been engineered and designed for erosion mitigation were examined.
