eCoast was part of a multi-disciplinary team lead by Earnst and Young to investigate the best pathway forwards for the Port of Auckland. Over 20 potential locations were considered, with a wide range of interrelated variables assessed to score potential sites and narrow them down to a short-list. eCoast provided expert advice on coastal processes and ecological impacts/values, having prior experience through other projects with all the sites identified. Further detailed investigations were undertaken for the short-listed sites, with the results indicating that a future port in Manukau Harbour would be best location.
