The Vinh Tan 3 Power Station Development requires capital dredging for a shipping channel and the port for vessels. An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required to characterise dredging activities against existing environmental conditions. eCoast was commissioned to model the sediment pathways due to wave driven and hydrodynamic influences. The models were calibrated against field data. Analysis of the model results was required to highlight and quantify the roles played by tides, wind driven currents and waves in sediment transport in the study area. Results from the modelling will link to ecological studies to assess the impacts of the proposed works.
